Ontario has a ``graduated licensing`` system. This means you have to take three license steps over 5 years before getting a full driver's license. The first license you get is called G1, the second one is called G2 and the full license’s name is G
You need to be minimum of 16 years old to get your G1 license With your G1 license received, you need to wait for 12 months to get your G2 license after passing the road test. If you complete MTO (Ministry Transportation of Ontario) approved driving school course (it is called BDE - Beginner Driver Education course), your waiting time is reduced to 8 months. So, you can get G2 license after 12 months without driving school course and after 8 months with driving school certificate. You can get G license (Full Driving License) after a year from receiving your G2. So, there is a MINIMUM 1 year wait between G2 and G licenses. You can complete the graduated license system in as little as 20 months, and you have MAXIMUM 5 years.
You have to be at least 16 years old. You must pass an eye test to find out if you can see well enough to drive safely, and you must take a written test about the rules of the road.
To get the G2 license, you have to pass a road test and have had your G1 for 8 months (if you took driver training with an MTO approved driving school) or 1 year if you practiced your driving skills without using an approved driving school
As a G1 driver you can’t drive alone. You will have to: • drive with a fully licensed driver who has at least four years of driving experience (and a blood alcohol level of less than .05 per cent, in case he or she needs to take over the wheel) • be sure that the other driver is the only other person in the front seat • make sure that everyone in the car has a seatbelt • stay off Ontario's ``400-series`` highways or key highways such as the Queen Elizabeth Way, Don Valley Parkway and the Conestoga Parkway • have zero blood alcohol level. Which means no drinking before and while driving • not drive between midnight and 5:00 am. NOTE: As a G1 driver, you can drive on any road (including major highways) if the driver accompanying you is a licensed Ontario driving instructor

a month agoI had a great experience with Sprint Driving School and my instructor Igor. I had my G1 and wanted to get my G2, but honestly, I didn’t know how to drive at all when I started. With Igor, I was already driving on the road from the very first lesson, which felt impossible to me before. After around 15 lessons, I passed my G2 test! Igor is very calm, patient, supportive, and explains everything clearly. I really couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. It was also important for me to learn with someone who could explain things both in my language and in English, so I could understand all the driving terms properly - and Igor did exactly that. I highly recommend Sprint Driving School and especially Igor. I’ll definitely be coming back to him next year to prepare for my full G test.

He helped me with both my G2 and G test - both of which I passed on the first attempt. Highly recommended for anyone that’s simply seeking advice with driving or to pass your road tests.

3 months agoAn absolutely amazing driving school! I greatly recommend this school, especially through my instructor Igor. From professional, to patient, to friendly, he was a great instructor and a great person through and through. I felt supported through my lessons and genuinely prepared for my road test when it came. He helped me learn the basics of driving and the requirements for the G2 test, while simultaneously correcting my mistakes. In the end, I felt much more confident on the road! He is professional, extremely patient and explains everything clearly in a simple way and makes sure that you are fully prepared for the road test. He helped me build confidence and corrected my mistakes calmly which really made a difference. Igor was punctual in every lesson, always on time, very flexible in scheduling and genuinely cares about his students success.
